This historical C1920’s iconic home owned by former Prime Minister Sir William McMahon had been uninhabited and neglected when it fell into the hands of my client who had an incredible flare and passion for restoration.

Our task was to update and refresh the spaces while retaining the decorative, historical features and grand architectural proportions of the house. We wanted to create a backdrop that showcased my client’s wonderful art collection as well as her antiques and contemporary furniture collections.

My client was happy to take risks and added her own touches, bringing home lighting and wallpaper from trips abroad which added even more layers and interest.

We didn’t want to disturb the house’s fine lines but sought to enhance and make relevant the unique features of the property. We added drama by staining the original flooring dark and painted walls white while exploring mood and colour in several breakaway spaces.

Ultimately, we achieved a unique and eclectic outcome whilst creating liveable and functional spaces for a busy young family.
